Front Pages Of The World

The name of my single favorite news page is The Austin American Statesman. It is my favorite mostly because it is my local newspaper and I've been down with it since Freshman year.
The Newspaper is from Austin, Texas. My favorite headline from the newspaper is "Shooter's Motives Remain A Mystery". There are 8 stories on the front page. The title of the newspapers are in a different font than the headlines, and it is at the way top (obviously). The top story always has the biggest headline and photo. Some newspapers are different from each other because of the headlines and logos and the way their stories are organized and placed.

The 7 News Values of News

Timeliness- (Headline) Video shows teen getting punched in face at school
1:00 PM March 27 2014
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/03/27/video-teen-punched-in-face/6949711/
The news article is followed by the news value I chose for it because it was posted about an hour ago, and it is very recent.
Proximity- (Headline) Police identify pedestrian killed in North Austin hit-and-run
http://www.statesman.com/news/news/crime-law/police-identify-pedestrian-killed-in-north-austin-/nfMSZ/
The news article follows the news value "Proximity" because it happened on North Lamar Boulevard
Prominence- (Headline) Tyler, the Creator Arrested for Inciting a Riot at SXSW http://pitchfork.com/news/54367-tyler-the-creator-arrested-for-starting-a-riot-at-sxsw/
The article follows prominence because Tyler The Creator is a really famous rapper and SXSW is a really important musical event.
Impact- (Headline) Still rehabbing, victim of SXSW wreck staying positive
http://www.statesman.com/news/news/crime-law/still-rehabbing-victim-of-sxsw-wreck-staying-posit/nfQ4C/
The article follows impact because the woman was affected and injured by a car crash during SXSW outside a concert and was hit by a car.
Conflict- (Headline) Ohio will have to recognize gay marriages, judge says
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/04/04/ohio-gay-marriage/7304753/
This follows conflict because same-sex marriage has been argued over a lot. Most states ban same-sex marriage but others go for it.
Human Interest- (Headline) Perry: ‘There aren’t any easy answers to what occurred’ at Fort Hood
http://www.statesman.com/news/news/more-information-on-fort-hood-victims-shooting-sus/nfRxg/
The article follows Human Interest because there was a recent shooting at Ford Hood, but it also was the second shooting to have occurred at Fort Hood.
Novelty- (Headline) Breast feeding death sends woman to prison for 20 years
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/04/04/breast-milk-baby-death/7303397/
This article follows novelty because at first, it surprises the reader, because how can breast feeding bring death, right? Well, once you start getting into the story, you will realize its not as weird as it seemed, but it still shocked you wether you do not want to admit it or not.
